1685 Comedies, Histories & Tragedies by William Shakespeare

As the greatest writer of the English language, William Shakespeare needs no introduction. However, you might never have heard the name, “Shakespeare,” were it not for the collection of his plays into folios. In the early 1600’s, publishing a book in the folio format, which referred to the process of folding a single sheet of paper to make two leaves or four pages, was only used for prestigious works of literature. Shortly after his death, fellow actors in Shakespeare’s company decided to compile The Bard’s works into “Mr. William Shakespeare’s Comedies, Histories & Tragedies,” which featured thirty-six plays, eighteen of which had never before been published.

First Edition of Philosopher-Scientist by Einstein (Signed)

Considered by Time Magazine to be the “Person of the Century”, Albert Einstein details the evolution of his views on classical mechanics, relativity, quantum mechanics and more in Albert Einstein: Philosopher-Scientist. This rare book is one of 760 limited, first edition volumes that was signed by Einstein himself and features the original German writing with an English translation by Professor of Philosophy Paul Arthur Schilpp. Of the 760 copies produced, 10 were saved for presentation and 750 were distributed to subscribers of the series. Signed copies comparable to Rally’s #EINSTEIN sold in the late nineties for low five-figure results. Since 1997, auction results for signed, first edition copies of Albert-Einstein: Philosopher-Scientist have increased by an average of 350%.

1954-1955 First Edition, First Issue of The Lord of the Rings Trilogy

When J.R.R. Tolkien published The Lord of the Rings in 1954, his publisher worried such “high fantasy” would not sell and insisted it be printed in three volumes to minimize printing costs. Rally’s #LOTR offering contains First Edition, First Impression copies of each of the three volumes of the Lord of The Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, and The Return of the King. With less than 3,000, 3,250 and 7,000 copies, respectively, this is a rare chance to invest in the earliest iteration of the fabled franchise.

1997 First Edition Harry Potter

In 1997, a then unknown author named J.K. Rowling published her first novel, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (aka Sorcerer’s Stone). Bloomsbury Publishing printed a scant 500 copies – 300 paperback copies were sent to libraries in the United Kingdom and 200 hardcover volumes were sold in bookstores.
